R&D Informatics Customer Success

22 Sep

IDBS’ Enterprise Customers range from global enterprises to academic research institutions.  When we work with our customers to document their implementation experiences we hear a similar story, regardless of the industry sector or size of the organization. They all expected IDBS to be a cost effective, robust and secure R&D data management solution, but they also cite the following as additional benefits accruing to their decision to select IDBS over other software providers:

  • Significant time savings and increased staff productivity
  • Simplification of workflows
  • Enhanced tools for collaboration both internally and externally
  • Flexible framework & rich functionality
  • Process improvements across diverse disciplines
  • Domain expertise of the IDBS Support and Professional Services staff

At recent IDBS Roadshows and User Group meetings we have heard from a range of organizations using IDBS, including Solae, Amgen and Abbott Laboratories. Sharing these experiences (the highs and lows, best practices, lessons learnt and customizations) are invaluable for the IDBS community, and also for those organizations that are just starting to work on their own projects using IDBS. A selection of IDBS customer announcements published recently includes:

  • PharmaLegacy Laboratories – achieve a 10x improvement in validated reporting time
  • Ablynx – deploy IDBS to speed antibody research and discovery
  • BASF – use IDBS as its enterprise research data management platform
  • Lonza – adopt IDBS to optimize bioprocess execution and knowledge management
  • AnaptysBio – deploy E-WorkBook to manage data
  • University of Nottingham – extends E-WorkBook Suite across global network of campuses

A full list of case studies can be found on our web site for you to browse. If you want to share your own experiences of using IDBS we’d like to hear from you.

The truth. The whole truth. And nothing but the truth

Why the world needs to get real about how we treat data for INDs

It goes without saying that preclinical collaboration is complex business. So why then is so much of the historical data, collected over so many years of intensive research, so problematical to actually use and collaborate with?

More than ever before the industry needs a “Single Point of Truth” – an authoritative datasource that every member of the chain can access and use as they need at every stage of IND development.

There are three key goals that customers tell us they need to achieve:

“Every group in my community must be allowed (and have the ability) to collaborate via data.”

“We have to find a way to use historical data more intelligently to improve the speed and quality of the whole process.”

“We’re crying out for a way to simplify the production and validation of IND submission.”

We believe that better use of data can be delivered today – cost effectively and efficiently – if we use the right approach and a data-centric information system that already exists. So if you’re looking for some real world answers to improving IND data delivery read on

Queen’s Award for Enterprise

2 Aug

Her Majesty The Queen

Her Majesty the Queen and Neil Kipling

Earlier this year we were delighted to announce that IDBS had won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade Category 2011.

The Queen’s Award is acknowledged as the UK’s most prestigious business award and was granted to IDBS in recognition of outstanding achievement in growing overseas income.

Our CEO, Neil Kipling, had the opportunity to visit Buckingham Palace recently to receive the Queen’s Award in person.

This is the third Queen’s Award we have won in our 21 year history.

If you think Enterprise ELNs only save paper – think again

28 Jun

The switch from paper-based notebooks to Electronic Lab Notebooks has proved as profound as the move from 78rpm records to iTunes. To stay competitive in this increasingly data driven world, investing in ELNs is becoming more and more crucial.

Nowhere is that more true than in preclinical drug development.

In just five years the use of ELNs throughout late stage research, development and manufacturing, (dare I say, spearheaded by IDBS’ E-WorkBook), has led them to become enterprise systems offering everyone an easily mined and searchable rich data source.

Today’s advanced Enterprise ELNs integrate with existing LIMS to offer highly sophisticated and flexible data capture. Combining these systems removes bottlenecks typically found between disparate data sources and provides much faster access to raw scientific data and its context.

The business benefits are evident and proven – more effective collaboration, fast reporting and easier compliance with initiatives such as ‘Quality by Design’. That’s what I call a significant commercial advantage.

If ever there was a time to re-evaluate whether an ELN is the right system for you, it’s now.
